Backing up your website database

If your website is dynamic (typically if it has a Content Management System such as WordPress, Joomla or Drupal), you site will be powered by a database which holds the information about your site content - Pages, Images etc - as well as information about your site users.  It is sensible to take regular backups of your database.  This can be done quite simply trhough your Watch the Dot hosting account:

1. Login to your Watch the Dot Control Panel
You can find your control panel at http://controlpanel.yourdomain.com (replacing yourdomain.com with your website domain name)


2. Open the My SQL Database Manager





3. Find the Database and Select backup

The database backup file will be downloaded to your PC
