WordPress healthcheck

Your WordPress site, backed up, updated and checked

A one-off maintenance visit for sites that aren’t on a care plan. A senior WordPress specialist backs your site up, brings everything up to date, checks it still works, and tells you what they found. Fixed price, no subscription.

What we do

  • Backup first: your files and database, stored off the server and kept for 30 days
  • Updates: WordPress, plugins and themes, including premium ones where you have a valid licence
  • Checks afterwards: your key pages, contact forms, the admin area and the error log
  • Security: administrator accounts, plugins with known vulnerabilities, and plugins that are no longer maintained
  • Housekeeping: unused plugins and themes, removed with your agreement
  • Server basics: PHP version, SSL certificate and WordPress’s own Site Health warnings
  • Small fixes: anything we spot that takes under 15 minutes, done
  • Rollback: if an update causes a problem, we put it back to the last working version
  • Report: what we updated, what we found, and what to do next, in plain English

How it works

  1. Book and pay in the client portal, with your website address.
  2. Give us access. We’ll ask for an administrator account of our own, and hosting access if you have it. Never by email.
  3. We do the work within five working days of getting access.
  4. Get the report in the portal the same day. Ask us anything about it for the next 14 days.

Not included

Cleaning up a hacked site, restoring a site that’s already down, design or content changes, and upgrades that need development work. If we find something like that, we’ll tell you and quote before doing anything.

Very large sites, multisite networks and shops with more than 5,000 products are quoted first. Ask us if you’re not sure.

Questions

Healthcheck or care plan?

A healthcheck is a snapshot: your site is up to date on the day we do it. Plugins release updates every week, and security fixes can’t wait months. If your site matters to your business, a care plan from £20 a month keeps it updated every week and includes quick help. A healthcheck suits a small site that only needs looking at now and then.

Healthcheck or audit?

A healthcheck is maintenance: we do the updates and small fixes, and send a short report. An audit is a detailed review of everything, including hosting, speed and search, where we change nothing and talk the findings through with you on a call.

Which one do I need?

If your site has WooCommerce installed, even for a few products, choose the WooCommerce healthcheck. Shops take more care to update and need the checkout testing afterwards.

What if an update breaks something?

We roll it back to the last working version, so your site is back to normal. That’s included. If the site needs work to use the new version, we’ll explain and quote for it.

How often should I book one?

Every three to six months for a quiet site. If you’d want it more often than that, a care plan is better value.

Does my site need to be hosted with you?

No. We work with sites wherever they’re hosted.
