Refunds are done from the order itself, so the order, the stock and the customer’s payment all stay in step.
-
Open the order
Go to WooCommerce → Orders and click the order number.
-
Click Refund
Below the list of items, click Refund. Quantity and amount boxes appear next to each item.
-
Choose what to refund
- Whole items: enter the quantity being refunded for each item. The amount fills in for you.
- Part of an item, or postage: type the amount in the item’s or shipping’s refund box instead.
- Leave Restock refunded items ticked if the items are coming back and can be sold again.
- Add a Reason for refund. Your team sees it in the order notes.
-
Send the refund
- Refund £x via Stripe (or PayPal) sends the money back to the customer’s card or account automatically.
- Refund £x manually only records the refund in the shop. Use it when you’re returning the money another way, for example by bank transfer, and then make that payment yourself.
The customer is emailed a refund confirmation. A full refund changes the order status to Refunded.
